AUTHOR: Erin O'Hara-Leslie

Erin O’Hara-Leslie, MS Ed., BS, AAS, CMA (AAMA). Erin has worked at SUNY Broome Community College since the fall of 2004. She has been the Chairperson and Assistant Professor in the Medical Assisting & Health Studies Department since 2011. Erin manages the Health Studies, AAS/AS degrees, Medical Assisting, AAS degree, and Medical Administrative Skills Certificate program.  She manages all administrative functions and her department services a combined total of approximately 800+ traditional and nontraditional students.  Additionally, she has been the Project Manager and SUNY liaison for Coursera-SUNY Broome Massive Open Online Course: Foundations for Assisting in Home Care. Erin also manages Fast Forward courses from the Health Studies degree and is the Coordinator for the Health Studies Degree program for the Pathways in Technology and Early High School (PTECH) summer program. Furthermore, Erin has served as Chairperson for SUNY Broome Community Colleges Shared Governance and serves on and chairs numerous committees on campus. In the spring of 2016, Erin was the recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service. She has also worked in the capacity of grant writer, academic advisor, counselor, and public health educator. Erin is a graduate of Buffalo State with a Master’s Degree in Adult Education, SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education, and SUNY Broome with an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting.
